Traitors checkers
⚔️ Traitor Mode
"Keep your friends close, and your enemies in your own backyard."
How it Works
The Chaos Setup: Both players start with an identical, messy mix of White and Black pieces jumbled together across the rows. White controls all White pieces, and Black controls all Black pieces, regardless of where they start.
Locked Trajectories: The direction a piece moves is determined solely by where it originally spawned. Pieces starting in the top 3 rows are permanently locked to moving down the board. Pieces starting in the bottom 3 rows are permanently locked to moving up the board.
The Eternal Grind: Reaching the absolute opposite edge of the board does nothing. Pieces do not change direction or promote. They stay on their path, meaning pieces that make it all the way to the far wall become static blockers or "immovable shields."
The Strategy
Because your own pieces are spawned directly behind enemy lines, early game coordination is crucial. You must use your forward pieces to clear paths and create safety pockets so your deep-territory "traitors" can maneuver without being immediately forced into a bad position once the first-move protection wears off.
🪃 Boomerang Mode
"Push them to the edge, and watch them snap back."
How it Works
The Chaos Setup: Uses the exact same mixed, alternating layout as Traitor Mode.
The Return Trigger: Just like in Traitor Mode, top-spawned pieces start by moving down, and bottom-spawned pieces start by moving up. However, if a piece manages to survive the gauntlet and touch the absolute furthest edge of the board, it becomes a Boomerang Piece (marked with ⬆️ or ⬇️).
Directional Flip: Once a piece becomes a Boomerang, its movement direction permanently flips. A top piece that reached the bottom row will turn around and only move upward. A bottom piece that reached the top row will turn around and only move downward.
The Strategy
This mode turns the back rows into high-stakes launchpads. Reaching the enemy's baseline turns a piece that was running out of room into a dangerous counter-attacking threat that sweeps backward through the board. Guarding your own back rows while trying to smuggle a piece to the opponent's edge is key to dominating the endgame.
🔴 Core Rules (Applies to Both Modes)
First Move Truce: To prevent instant elimination due to the tight starting layout, no captures are allowed on the very first move of the game.
Mandatory Kills: Starting from move two, if a jump is available anywhere on the board for the active player, it must be taken. Standard 1-step diagonal moves are locked until all available initial captures are executed.
Combo Chains: If a piece completes a jump and has another valid jump available from its new landing spot, the game locks onto that piece, allowing you to chain together double, triple, or massive multi-kill sweeps in a single turn.

Hey, just checked out the game. Some observations:
- It is hard right now to judge the game since it has no single player variant and I'm not asking my friends to sit at the same computer in order to test it :D
- It is quite hard for me to understand what the main innovation here is since I find the text difficult to read. It has a distinct AI smell to it although I might be mistaken since you've specified that no gen AI was involved. In any case the language is quite swollen and not to the point. I'd suggest to rewrite it so that the reader can parse the information at first glance within the first couple of paragraphs.
- not sure if Boomerang and Traitor are different enough as concepts. Maybe it makes sense to start with one of these and refine that before going further?
- "Puzzle" and "Simulation" are definitely not the right genres.
- The "Physical game" category is appropriate for this concept, however... it is a digital game
My suggestion: Release the game as a well laid out and understandable pint-and-play PDF first. Find some board game enthusiasts (I know there is a chess variants subreddit on Reddit for instance, there might be one for checkers as well). Get some feedback that way and refine the concept. Then once you have a good concept you can think about creating a digital game from it.
Hope the feedback helps. Have a great day!
Thanks a lot for the feedback❤️ it helps a lot! I will most definitely try to make my game better based on your and other people's feedback!!!!
